Genealogical Case Studies
Join us as Kim Richardson returns to discuss several Case Studies.
As genealogy researchers, we all have questions: What information is out there? Where can I look for additional clues? Have I exhausted the source with which I’m currently working? And we are a curious lot. We want to know of others’ research: How did they figure that out? Where was that information? Experience and lessons learned the hard way are often the best teachers in answering these questions.
Researchers who invest time in reviewing case studies can greatly further develop their skills and depth of knowledge by learning from the experiences of other researchers. Every case study or solved problem demonstrates unique ways of discovering resources and analyzing records which can lead to genealogical breakthroughs, especially when the Genealogical Proof Standard is also applied.
In this presentation, Kim Richardson will give an overview of the Genealogy Proof Standard and present real-life genealogy mysteries that were solved by combining the GPS with other unique and forensic methodologies. She will share her trials, triumphs, discoveries, and joys (and a few failures) as she describes the practical working progress of several cases from beginning to end.
