For many years, the Society has offered an extensive list of education sessions. We hope that for those in the Mid-South you have been able to take advantage of these sessions in-person.
In-House Training
Our flagship offering is Let's Discuss It. This monthly session has two main sections. The first section covers websites. The list varies each month as new websites are created and interest in old sites is refreshed. Members are asked to recommend websites for discussion. The second session is on record keeping. This includes computer-based software such as Family Tree Maker, RootsMagic and Legacy and online sites including Ancestry, FamilySearch and MyHeritage. Bring your questions and issues for discussion.
Other sessions are on an as-requested basis. The topics are quite varied and have included DNA, Census, Military, Native American, state-based research and technology. We survey our members to help determine what sessions will be offered.
Seminars
The Society has presented nationally known speakers twice a year, Spring and Fall. We bring in a variety of speakers and topics. Over the past 2 years, these have included Joshua Taylor, Thomas MacEntee, Judy Russell, Ulster Historical Foundation and State Archivists from Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee.
GoToWebinar
The Tennessee Genealogical Society has upgraded our webinar platform! Effective July 1, 2020, non-members will be able to register for our exciting Webinars for $5.00. It is a great way to try our offerings before becoming a member.
