Two Colonial Georgias: Understanding History Helps Find Records by Larry W. Thomas

Most people know Georgia was originally a Trusteeship; but what did that mean?  Understanding a state’s pre-statehood government will help you locate & understand records.  This 1-hour presentation will explain the two distinct government entities that controlled Georgia before the American Revolution and where to find records.

Retired US Army Captain Larry, with 23 years in Aviation, Transportation & Logistics, a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Maintenance Management, an FAA airplane mechanic license, an MBA in MIS, and a Project Management Professional Certification.

Beginning his Genealogy Research 30 years ago with his Thomas Family, Georgia residents since the 1750s, then expanded into his and his late wife’s families. Beginning client research in 2008 and presenting regularly in 2015, operating www.AtlantaGenealogy.com.

A ProGen graduate, Larry periodically assists with the TV show Finding Your Roots.  A member of numerous Genealogical and Historical Societies, he is the current President of the Genealogical Speakers Guild and serves on several genealogical societies and non-profit boards.
