Maine Genealogy by B.J. Jaimeson
Despite being in a ‘corner’ of the U.S., many people had ancestors who lived in Maine. Whether settling on the coast for maritime careers, moving north for military bounty land, or south from Canada to work in the mills, Maine was a land of opportunities, especially in the 19th century. While pre-1850 records can be scarce, there are records that will help you trace your Maine ancestors.
B.J. Jamieson is the genealogy reference specialist at the Maine State Library, which lets her indulge her love of books and genealogy to an extent that she didn’t think was possible before she accepted the position. She has a postgraduate certificate in genealogy from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, Scotland) as well as a master’s degree in library science.
Access will be through GoToWebinar. Instructions and Connectivity Link will be forwarded via email to all registrants upon registration, six days prior and again 1 hour prior to the event. Making the connection is quick and easy only requiring a computer and Internet connectivity from wherever you chose to watch the event. Your questions help drive the meetings, and we will be there to help each other.
