TNGS Annual Membership Meeting
According to the latest revision of the Bylaws for the Tennessee Genealogical Society, an Annual Membership Meeting will be held during the month of October each year. At this meeting, Officers will present reports on the State of the Society and all members will be allowed to ask questions. Also, the membership will receive an update on the society’s budget and will be asked to vote on the proposed budget for the upcoming year. Members will vote on new Board Members every year ending with an odd number, with the new Officers’ terms beginning on January 1st of the next year.
The meeting should be relatively brief but essential for all members.
Following the Membership Meeting, Mike Ellicott will give an exciting presentation on America's Great Road Trip-Building America's Interstate System.
America's Great Road Trip-Building America's Interstate
System by Mike Ellicott
Born out of the Good Roads Movement of the early 1900’s, spurred on by the Army’s 62-day cross-country road trip in 1919, and inspired by Germany’s WWII Autobahns, America’s Interstate Highway System began in 1956 and quickly became the Nation’s largest public works project to date. Interstate Highways made cross country travel possible and connected our country in ways we never imagined. Local amateur historian and Retired Army Colonel Mike Ellicott will relate the fascinating story of America’s quest for Good Roads and provide some fascinating trivia along the way.
Access will be through GoToWebinar. Instructions and Connectivity Link will be forwarded via email to all registrants upon registration, six days prior and again 1 hour prior to the event. Making the connection is quick and easy only requiring a computer and Internet connectivity from wherever you chose to watch the event. Your questions help drive the meetings, and we will be there to help each other.
